Margaret McKenty research associate
What role do you play at kisquared?
I spend most of my time on technical writing and editing tasks - whether at a project’s outset, writing research proposals; in the middle, revising questionnaires and screeners; or at the end, producing final reports and presentations. I’m often the last person to review a written deliverable before it goes out the door to a client or potential client. So, my primary role is to ensure that any misspellings, grammatical infelicities and bits of bafflegab that survive long enough to cross my desk get caught there and expunged without mercy.
What do you like about working at kisquared?
We’re continually challenged to do our best, and to come up with ways of doing it better. kisquared only succeeds because a terrific team of talented nutters works very hard together in an environment that’s respectful rather than hierarchical, and cares passionately about the outcome. Every day we learn about a different client’s business, and that can be fascinating. Also, I get paid to do what I like much of the time, namely, work in my pyjamas.
Your best kisquared moment?
Finding and fixing a glitch in a report before we send it out is a wonderful feeling. It’s proof that our quality assurance process is working. Hearing that we’ve sailed through our latest ISO surveillance audit with flying colours is always a pleasure, too. But I think my very best kisquared moment is still to come - when I have a chance to use "apocolocyntosis" in a company document and get away with it.
When let out of the office, I like to...
Drink tea, listen to lute music, read dictionaries... just be the life of the party, really. Come to think of it, that’s what I do in the office. Outside, I’m a different person entirely.
